FAQ

Our friendly chiropractic team have tried to answer as many questions as possible in this FAQ. Please let us know if you have any other questions regarding chiropractic care.

What is Chiropractor?

A chiropractor is a doctor specializing in the health of the spine as it relates to the nervous system.  The moveable bones of your spine become damaged via injuries and stresses over your lifetime.  These stresses and injuries result in a malfunctioning spine which in turn causes malfunction of the nervous system that controls your muscles and organs  which can lead to pain and ill health.  Chiropractors find these jammed, malfunctioning areas of your spine, and restore proper movement.  Better movement and less inflammation results in less pain and better quality of life.

What do I need to bring?

All you need is to bring your Alberta Health card (or other provincial health card if you have one).  While not necessary, it's often helpful to contact your insurance company in advance  may before your first appointment.  That way, you'll know your coverage.

How many visits will I need?

Our recommendations are based on a number of factors including your age, severity of your condition, and any other complicating factors.  Some examples can be:  stress, work environment, lifestyle choices, etc.  Most patients feel improvement anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.  Optimal results (restoring normal biomechanics) can take anywhere from several weeks to several months depending on the person.  How far you would like to take our recommendation is always up to you.

What should I wear to my appointment?

When seeing a chiropractor, there's no special attire needed for receiving treatment.

How do I make an appointment?

If you would like to contact us because you have a question, simply call 780-929-0733.  In our offices, we are a walk-in chiropractor style of practice.  That means you can just drop by any time during office hours.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, chiropractors can assess and treat without a doctor referral.

How long will I need a chiropractor?

We deliver chiropractic care on your terms.  That means you can do as much or as little as you like.  We do believe that chiropractic care is an essential part of a healthy life.  While most patients will achieve relief in about 3 days to 3 weeks,  if your goal is to align your spine optimally (restoring proper, healthy biomechanical function to the spine), this will take longer and varies on the individual.  When pain is managed, people feel better and are more able to deal with the day to day rigors of life.  Maintenance care helps keep you moving!

What conditions does a chiropractor treat?

Everyone from kids to seniors can benefit from chiropractic care.  Chiropractic is a safe, natural, drug-free approach to pain relief.

Chiropractors can help with:

  • Back pain
  • Headaches
  • Neck Pain

Are there chiropractic specialists?

There are certain sub-specialties for chiropractors.  There are chiropractors that take extra training, in radiology, neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics, etc.

How do I know if my insurance covers chiropractic services?

The best way to find out if your chiropractor visits are covered is to call your insurance company.  They'll know exactly what you're covered for.  Our chiropractic staff is happy to issue you receipts and answer any additional questions you may have.  If you don't have insurance, it's no problem!  There are a few alternative pricing structures we can employ to help out.

What if I have a time I want to come in but can’t make it?

Because our clinic is largely a walk-in style of chiropractic office, simply come in during our office hours.
